EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Global Impact STEM Academy has begun phase II on its Upper Academy at Clark State College with an $18.9M 32000 square foot building to add space for ninth graders. The facility will feature 15 flexible classrooms, six specialized labs and a modern esports lab—Marker Construction in partnership with West Central Ohio Port Authority will complete construction in fall 2027 as enrollment grows. - ➤ Two winning Ohio Lottery tickets were sold at a Springfield gas station last night—official sources are reviewing sales records for more details. WHIO
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services said that nearly 1.4 million Ohioans will receive full SNAP benefits starting next week—recipients who have not yet been paid will get their full November distribution and others will receive their scheduled payments on the 20th. WHIO
- ➤ The Springfield warming shelter, run by the Nehemiah Foundation, will open Sunday evening at 15 S. Plum St. to provide refuge from freezing overnight temperatures. It will operate nightly from 6 p.m. to 8 a.m. until Tuesday and offer meals plus case management, funded by a $28,000 city agreement and HUD grants. Springfield News-Sun
