- ➤ Local firefighter Steven Power was honored by officials for rescuing an unconscious person during a house fire that injured three people on November 9 — he was recognized alongside his department leaders for his quick actions. WHIO
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Clark-Shawnee Local School District announced that after a second failed 1% earned income tax levy it will cut support staff hours and raise student fees immediately — actions meant to offset an expected deficit that could reach almost $2 million by 2030. The school board will soon meet to discuss whether to place the levy on the May ballot next year. Springfield News-Sun
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Snow flurries fell in parts of the Miami Valley on Sunday, including areas around Springfield where a street maintenance director reported that crews had 3000 tons of salt ready for road treatments. The director said two trucks + an overnight crew will work to clear roads before the morning commute. WHIO
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ The OHSAA announced Friday’s regional semifinal pairings at 7 p.m. with higher-seeded area schools hosting games such as Middletown vs Springfield and Troy vs Wayne — winners will advance to the finals on November 21. WHIO
