Local firefighter Steven Power was honored by officials for rescuing an unconscious person during a house fire that injured three people on November 9 — he was recognized alongside his department leaders for his quick actions.

The Clark-Shawnee Local School District announced that after a second failed 1% earned income tax levy it will cut support staff hours and raise student fees immediately — actions meant to offset an expected deficit that could reach almost $2 million by 2030.

The school board will soon meet to discuss whether to place the levy on the May ballot next year.

Snow flurries fell in parts of the Miami Valley on Sunday, including areas around Springfield where a street maintenance director reported that crews had 3000 tons of salt ready for road treatments.

The director said two trucks + an overnight crew will work to clear roads before the morning commute.

The OHSAA announced Friday’s regional semifinal pairings at 7 p.m. with higher-seeded area schools hosting games such as Middletown vs Springfield and Troy vs Wayne — winners will advance to the finals on November 21.
