- ➤ Downtown Springfield will light up Friday, Nov. 28 at 5 p.m. — a free event — when the Grand Illumination kicks off Holiday in the City celebrations with a parade at 6 p.m. and Santa arriving by about 6:30 p.m. A drone show with firecrackers at 7 p.m. — along with food trucks, ice skating and designated parking amid road closures on Fountain Avenue and High Street — will add extra sparkle to the festivities. - ➤ Honey Creek Presbyterian Church in New Carlisle will hold its final celebration on Nov. 30 — guests will gather at 3:30 p.m., honor retiring pastor Rev. Lynn Bova at 4 p.m., enjoy a light meal at 5 p.m. and join a final worship service at 6:30 p.m. Springfield News-Sun
