COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Springfield’s Brick Base is hosting a holiday charity drive beginning Friday until Christmas Eve—donors are asked to contribute items that weigh the same as pieces from the Lego river and will receive minifigures or Lego pieces in return to support families and local organizations. The drive also includes sorting and sanitizing donations for Lutheran schools in Chicago and integrates ongoing Lego building events at the store. Springfield News-Sun
- ➤ Honey Creek Presbyterian, the oldest chartered congregation in Clark County, will hold its final service on November 30 — starting at 3:30 p.m. with a photo gathering and continuing at 6:30 p.m. with a worship service that includes communion and the singing of Silent Night — as it permanently closes after 221 years. The church building will be maintained until a future use is found while donations from the service benefit a local food pantry. Springfield News-Sun
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Centerville said the CodeRED emergency alert system used in local cities was taken offline after a cyber attack that compromised user data—names, addresses, email addresses, phone numbers and passwords—and residents are advised to change reused passwords as the city sets up a new Crisis24 platform for emergency updates. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Springfield City School District said it will close the School of Innovation at the end of the 2025-26 school year and shift its 100 students to Springfield High School at the start of 2026-27 (the change will consolidate programs). Springfield News-Sun
- ➤ Clark State College started its Caring Campus program in fall to help students get extra support—staff greet students, wear name badges, and guide them to the right office. The program has raised nursing exam pass rates and improved retention from 72% to 78% while earning national recognition. Clark State College

- ➤ Sen. Jon Husted visited manufacturing plants in Urbana, Marysville and Mansfield earlier this week to show Ohio's strong workforce. He toured Bundy Baking Solutions in Urbana—which features a museum and the world's largest loaf of bread—along with Honda’s revamped facility and Charter Next Generation, a maker of sustainable materials. - ➤ Starting at midnight today until November 30, the Ohio State Highway Patrol will enforce rules against impaired driving, speeding and distractions during the busy Thanksgiving travel period. Governor Mike DeWine urged drivers to buckle up and report unsafe drivers — an effort aimed at preventing fatal crashes like those that occurred last Thanksgiving. WHIO
