- ➤ Springfield native Chad Wilson, replacing longtime director Kerry Pedraza, was named executive director at United Way of Clark, Champaign, and Madison Counties. - ➤ Becky Robinson and Entitled Housewife will perform at the Clark State Performing Arts Center on March 20 at 8 p.m.—she is known for viral comedy and original songs that have drawn fans nationwide. Tickets cost between $30 and $60. Clark State College
- ➤ Families gathered downtown on Friday evening when Holiday in the City opened with thousands of festive lights, fireworks and an outdoor ice rink, as Santa arrived on a fire truck—marking the start of a five-week celebration. Springfield News-Sun

- ➤ Local officials and community leaders will meet in a town hall on immigration this Thursday to discuss the scheduled Feb. 3 end of temporary protected status—raised amid worries about enforcement—with NAACP and G92 hosting the event for Springfield residents to ask questions. - ➤ Mental Health Services has shared tips to help Springfield residents manage holiday stress and anxiety by advising them to watch for signs such as withdrawal and changes in eating or sleeping habits—MHS will offer quick access to crisis walk-ins, therapy, and mobile crisis teams while urging anyone in need to call or text 988. - ➤ Wittenberg University named BJ Coad as its new head football coach effective Dec. 1—he is a 2008 alumnus with coaching stints at Syracuse, Marian, Butler, and Ohio Dominican University. WHIO
- ➤ Champion City baseball team is now called Champion City Half Trax to honor Springfield’s World War II legacy by nodding to the city’s past when International Harvester built half-tracks. Owner Leach said he made the change in recent weeks to show his plan to keep the team here — the team will play this summer at Carleton Davidson Stadium in the Prospect League. Springfield News-Sun
