COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Technician Bob Conry advises local homeowners to change their furnace filters monthly and schedule HVAC service twice a year to prevent heating problems this winter. Sean Hawkins in Clayton got his heat fixed quickly for his kids (a common winter fix).  WHIO
  • GoBus will launch four new intercity routes that include a stop at the old SCAT transfer station behind Myers Market, giving Springfield riders a connection from Toledo to Cincinnati and other cities. The agreement with the city is effective until July 1, 2028 and may end sooner if redevelopment plans arise.  Springfield News-Sun
  • On Saturday, Dec. 6, local law enforcement and the Clark County Prosecutor’s Office will launch the Blue Envelope Program to help people with disabilities communicate during traffic stops. The event offers a display of law vehicles and kits (available at local offices) for those who cannot attend.  Springfield News-Sun
  • Santa will host Holiday in the City events in Springfield, greeting families at the Heritage Center of Clark County on Dec. 6, 13, 20 (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.) and Dec. 11, 18 (5 to 8 p.m.), with stops at Snyder Park and Grandpa Joe’s Candy Shop.  Springfield News-Sun

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Women’s Association of the Springfield Symphony Orchestra will host its 45th Holiday Homes Tour this weekend, guiding visitors through six decorated historic homes as a fundraiser for symphony programs (tickets cost $20 in advance and $25 on-site, available online or at local shops).  Springfield News-Sun
  • A new Kwanzaa Black Makers Expo is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Hollenbeck Bayley Creative Arts and Conference Center, hosted by the Mbele Leadership Foundation to celebrate Black culture, creativity, and community ahead of Kwanzaa.  Springfield News-Sun

  • Springfield High School students will perform 'A Christmas Story' at the John Legend Theater on Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 13 at 2 p.m. and hold a coat, hat & glove drive, with tickets costing $12.62 for adults and $9.50 for students.  Springfield News-Sun
