- ➤ The neighborhood café on Murray Street will reopen as Brown’s Café on Jan. 6. It will close on Dec. 31 at noon for permit changes as co-owners Grace + Kenneth Brown continue offering homemade bread while partners take the Culture Café name in a new direction. Springfield News-Sun

- ➤ A Springfield police officer was recognized on Dec. 10 for quickly saving a 79-year-old diner whose airway became blocked at a local restaurant. WHIO

- ➤ This weekend at the State Theater at 19 S. Fountain Ave, Griffin House will perform his one-night Holiday Hometown Concert with daughter Emma, Moonbats will present classic rock, and Todd Stoll’s Red Hot Holiday Stomp will offer New Orleans-style jazz with half proceeds benefiting Second Harvest Food Bank.
