  • Maureen Fagans, executive director of United Senior Services (formerly Elderly United), will retire in January after 13 years leading programs that served nearly 10,000 seniors, delivered 135,000 meals, and improved 144 homes. She plans to focus on family and home projects during her retirement.  WYSO
  • Sleep in Heavenly Peace, a nonprofit that helps children get beds, will launch its first local chapter in January and hold its first bed building event Jan.-7-9; bed requests will begin this spring.  Springfield News-Sun

  • Experts report that about two thirds of holiday shoppers have returned gifts and 40 percent expect more returns as many retailers charge fees for mailed items + customers in Springfield are advised to use in-store exchanges to avoid extra charges.  WHIO

  • Local hospitals today are restricting visitors amid a rise in respiratory illnesses such as influenza, COVID-19, and other seasonal viruses — anyone with symptoms or under 14 cannot visit. Health officials say the measure aims to protect patients and maintain care capacity.  WHIO
