- ➤ The Clark County Fair in Springfield will use new safety protocols from July 18-25 that include parking and entry updates. Ticket holders with $8 admission will enter at Gate A on State Route 41 and deputies will use metal detectors at the Reiter Dairy Welcome Center—steps set to speed up check-ins. WDTN

- ➤ The Ohio Attorney General’s Office issued an Endangered Missing Adult Alert for 69-year-old Gary Simms after he left his home on S. Isabella Street in Springfield on July 1 and is still missing—Simms is diabetic, has severe heart issues, and was last seen wearing a red football jersey with number 23 and sweatpants while driving a white 2013 BMW X5. ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ At the Clark County Commission meeting, Pedraza presented the ALICE report, which shows that almost 43% of households (including 56% in Springfield) cannot cover basic costs as rising expenses and stagnant wages force families to make hard choices. The report, last conducted in 2023, found that over 21,000 households have fallen deeper into financial hardship. Springfield News-Sun
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Invenergy held its first public meeting Tuesday to discuss the proposed Sloopy Solar project in Harmony Township—about 12 miles east of Springfield—where local residents shared mixed concerns, especially about farmland preservation. The company will file an official application with the Ohio Power Siting Board later this year after further community discussions. WYSO

- ➤ Petitioners for an Equal Rights Amendment cleared the way to collect signatures for a November 2026 ballot vote but the Ohio Ballot Board split the proposal into two amendments—one to remove the same-sex marriage ban and allow marriage licenses and one to add a new clause to protect against discrimination. They must gather 415,000 valid signatures for each measure by July 2026. WDTN
