Maureen Fagans, executive director of United Senior Services (formerly Elderly United), will retire in January after 13 years leading programs that served nearly 10,000 seniors, delivered 135,000 meals, and improved 144 homes.

She plans to focus on family and home projects during her retirement.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace, a nonprofit that helps children get beds, will launch its first local chapter in January and hold its first bed building event Jan.-7-9; bed requests will begin this spring.
